Facebook Event Page
We started by having a quick intro about the availability of SFS group t-shirts and then quickly entering into a speech by Chad Hall & Victoria Grace Highfill.
Chad Hall and Victoria Grace Highfill gave a stump speech on their running for SGA Office for the Fall 2010 semester. Excellent discussion on B.U.C. Fund and it's allocations. The mention of the goals of communications and how they are going to be more transparent and more open to everyone on campus. they implored how they want to have a great more input and response via face-to-face as well as through online communications. Elect Chad Hall, Valisa Griffin & Victoria Highfill SGA Executive Branch is the group to discover their platform.
Ashley Bowser then gave her speech on her goals in being re-elected in SGA. Her main focus is on B.U.C. Funding and how there should be workshops involving students and how to apply. Their should be more open workshops or intros concerning SGA Senators. She then opened it up to asking her questions about the B.U.C. Funding processing and possibly having a workshop or some other way to bring more awareness and education with the entire funding process. Some suggestions also including a separate breakout of B.U.C. Funding info or maybe even pamphlet to better explain the funding. Also their was a suggestion to maybe provide multiple forms to allow for specific forms for specific events, speakers, or forums.
With a brief description of the film, we then entered into the twenty-five minute movie "2081." The film is based upon the Kurt Vonnegut book about the character Harrison Bergeron in the future year 2081 after everyone is made equal through amendments to the US Constitution.
When the movie finished several people ended up leaving due to other scheduling concerns.
A lovely discussion on equality and the anti-blasphemy laws. We then discussed the possibilities of slots to speak about freedom and anti-war at the local tea party event on April 15th.
Nicholas Mitchell then gave out his cards and then spoke regarding his candidacy for SGA President. He was present without his running mates. The title of his campaign is the "Listening Speaking Tour" He gave some background on his association to the college presbyterians and the was the president of the college republicans as well as he was the president of lambda chi alpha. He displayed his excitedness for having a conservative campaign and a conservative group of running mates.
We discussed the flyers and advertising for the anti-war and potapalooza events. We then discussed the ad campaign to ensue the evening beforehand. We then also discussed the wonderful main meal food. We then ajourned the meeting.
